Dear colleagues,

management of oral and maxillofacial tumors is one of the most challenging fields in our discipline. The surgical part includes tumor ablation, lymph node dissection and reconstructive techniques. Among these procedures the removal of the tumor mass with clear margins is the most pivotal one. Accessibility to the different tumor locations of the oral and maxillofacial region is limited by the complex anatomy. Consequently alternative approaches are required. The neck dissection is on the one hand important to remove potential lymph node metastases and on the other hand crucial for the determination of necessity for adjuvant radio- and/or chemotherapy.

During the current course we would like to share our experiences in this field with you. We invite you to a hands-on surgical workshop on Thiel-embalmed cadavers. Special focus of the course is paid on practical exercise. After detailed case presentations we will give you an anatomical introduction followed by the teaching of access surgery in a step-by-step manner. The second part of this course will bring you to the operation room. There we will demonstrate the procedures during a live surgery.
