There are a number of procedures that may be necessary in connection with the treatment of cleft lip and palate - so called primary and secondary surgeries.

Primary surgery corresponds to the establishment of vital functionality in early childhood or, if necessary, immediately after birth.

Primary Surgeries are:
  • Closure of the cleft lip (labioplasty; third to sixth month)

  • Closure of hard and soft palate (palatoplasty; until 12 months of age)

  • Closure of the cleft palate (osteoplasty; between eight and eleven years)

Special products from our portfolio herefore are the "KÖLN SET" and the "LIP-JAW-PALTE Set Part I - III".

KÖLN SET

It is designed for the treatment of newborns. The WANG instruments included are particulary delicate for the still very tender tissue structures of infants under 8 months of age. The KÖLN mouth retractor considers the requirements of the toothless infant jaw.

Secondary surgery can be required to improve functionality, aesthetic appearance or patients quality of life.

Secondary Surgeries are:
  • Aesthetic correction of the lip and nose
(the latter usually only after the patients growth has been completed)

  • Lengthening of the nasal bridge(in the case of bilateral cleft lip and palate)

  • Closure of minor gaps in the palate

  • Bimaxillary correction

  • Speech-supporting surgical measures

Supporting herefore can be our extensive "RHINOPLASTY" program.

RHINOPLASTY
