The first extraoral application of osseointegrated titanium implants for craniofacial defects dates back more than three decades. This event signalled a major improvement in the treatment of craniofacial defects using bone-anchored craniofacial prostheses (“epitheses”). Since then, numerous efforts have been made to improve the applicability and the result in unfavourable anatomical situations.

One result of the evolutionary process was the development of the epiplating system in co-operation with Prof. P. Federspil, Ph. A. Federspil and M. Schneider.

In the course you will receive a comprehensive overview of our epiplating systems – Epiplating MINI and Epiplating MONO. While our Epiplating MINI system is already a proven instrument in parts of reconstructive surgery, we would also like to introduce you to our Epiplating MONO system in this course. This was specially designed for demanding conditions such as complex bones, narrow anatomical conditions in the orbit and thin skin.

At the hands-on workshop, you can familiarise yourself with the design and application of the epithesis substructure.
